The Riveter Celebrates the FIFA World Cup with Reign FC

Megan Rapinoe, Allie Long, and other world-class players celebrated with us at their homecoming game.

The Riveter was proud and super-excited to host a celebration of the World Cup athletes (and fierce advocates for equal pay) from Seattle’s Reign FC as they returned to play a homecoming match after their amazing performances at the World Cup for teams across the league.

Attendees showed up as early as 11 a.m. to grab seats in our MVPinoe suite and take an on-field tour, before partaking in a celebratory drinks and tasty barbecue as the World Cup players were honored on-field. Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards presented World Cup sensation Megan Rapinoe with the key to the City of Tacoma just before kickoff.

We cheered along with the record-breaking crowd assembled for the game, and though Reign didn’t prevail over the Chicago Red Stars, fans nonetheless mobbed Rapinoe and Sam Kerr, who played for Australia, for autographs during the FanZone meet-and-greet. Along with our sponsors PCC Community Markets, LUNA Bar, Brighton Jones, Baden Sports, M.M.LaFleur, and Gene Juarez, we presented all of the World Cup players— Rosie White (who played for New Zealand), Jodie Taylor (England), Rumi Utsugi (Japan), Steph Catley (Australia), Rebecca Quinn (Canada), Celia Jiménez Delgado (Spain), Allie Long (USA), and Megan Rapinoe (USA)—with swag-packed tote bags as a parting gift, along with year-long memberships to The Riveter.

Gift bags included a one-year-membership to The Riveter, $400 to spend at M.M.LaFleur, $300 to spend at Gene Juarez, a $100 gift card to PCC, and a blanket, journal, and more from our friends at LUNA Bar.
