We Don’t Like Barriers
The Riveter is thrilled to partner with Ventures to offer fellowships to five amazing women entrepreneurs. We believe in creating real and meaningful access, investing in our community, and letting women lead, so each of our fellows receives a Riveter Resident membership and $1,000 monthly stipend with no strings attached. Meet our incredible 2019 fellows!
Hi, I’m Chevon Powell, an event pro and social entrepreneur with a goal to create ventures for social change. As founder of Golden Bricks Events, I’ve executed events of all types; from 15,000 person corporate meetings to community centered outdoor gatherings. In 2018 I repositioned Golden Bricks Events to focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the outdoors. In addition to consulting and event management, my signature event, the Refuge Outdoor Festiva, is an outdoor recreation and music camping experience geared toward people of color. I am committed to getting 10,000 people of color outdoors by 2021!
Hi, my name is Tiana Duncan, the proud owner of MassageFit. I’m a West Coast gal with an ATL swag, East Coast hustle and global vision. MassageFit was created by observing the lack of “me time” we all struggle with. And when we do make the time for ourselves, life interferes, which continues the cycle. MassageFit Solutions is more than a company that makes it convenient to take care of yourself through massage and fitness. We purposefully pick clients (private or corporate) that are actively supporting issues like social justice, improving the environment, equality for all, and diversity within the workplace.
Hi, I’m Paola Castellanos, a Seattle-based Spanish teacher, accent reduction coach and language learning content creator. I help my students to finally achieve fluency quickly with fun, out-of-the-box, personalized learning programs and online content. My teaching style works around students’ lifestyles, creating effective Spanish learning practices that become a sustainable, ongoing part of their lives. I am the go-to for the learners who can’t wait to see results and be able to rock it in Spanish! Learn more about in-person and online programs at Taco Spanish.
Caitlin “Blu” Clark
Hi! My name is Caitlin but most people call me Blu. I studied cosmetology at Seattle Vocational Institute and obtained my license to practice hair in 2018. Since then, I have been providing holistic hair care to the greater Seattle area. I specialize in protective styles such as braids, twists and crochet. I enjoy working with natural hair and stretching myself both professionally and creatively. I observed a “hair desert” for black women in the Seattle area and have been working to change that ever since through my company Blu’s Braidery.
Hi, my name is Lily Tran, Enrolled Agent and Founder of TaxUSign, a virtual tax firm dedicated to providing bookkeeping, taxes and representation services to clients across the United States. With the support of my two children, I’m working for a greater purpose. I’m living my dream and taking care of my family. I’m building a legacy.
