Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving dedicated to helping others through the gift of your time, donations or your voice. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season.
As a philosophy major who went to Wall Street, Susan Hammel translates between passionate social changemakers and expert accountants. In her role as Founder of Cogent Consulting Inc., Susan is serving her second year as Minnesota Council on Foundation Executive in Residence for impact investing, designed and launched the new $20 million Minnesota Impact Investing Collaborative fund, and is leading the charge to map the Twin Cities impact investing ecosystem, thanks to support from the Bush Foundation and the Otto Bremer Trust.
New to the spirits industry, Kjersten Merila is already shaking things up…over ice. Vodka’s the game, Her Spirit’s the name. Kjersten, Owner and Co-founder of Her Spirit, believes the achievement of starting her own company and working on Her Spirit is incredible, but is outweighed by the rewarding feeling of contributing. 50% of the profits from Her Spirit will be given back to female entrepreneurs on an annual basis.

Elaine Rasmussen is Founder and CEO of Social Impact Strategies Group (SISG) a Black/Native-led certified B-corp social enterprise that provides social impact design and inclusive economic development consulting, education workshops for investors and Black and Brown womxn entrepreneurs, and produces the annual ConnectUP! MN Summit which promotes and grows inclusive and equitable entrepreneur ecosystems that drive positive, sustainable social impact grounded in economic justice.
Michelle Tran Maryns is Founder & CEO of We Sparkle, a social enterprise that helps small businesses save time, increase revenues, and give back to the community via their first tool, a conversational AI assistant. Prior to We Sparkle, she was the Chief of Strategic Initiatives at Meda, Associate Director of Digital Strategy & Innovation at the American Academy of Neurology, Strategy Consultant at Rêve Consulting (major clients: Target & Capella), Community Outreach Specialist at the U.S. Department of Justice, and a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State.
