'Tis the season for New Years Resolutions to lose weight, get a 'beach body', be the 'best version' of you.
Come January 1, feel-good holiday programming will disappear and diet and weight-loss promos will be inescapable and this year--thanks to Weight Watchers--kids as young as 8 years old can expect diet programs to be marketed specifically for them! Don't let these ads be the only message your kids get about body image.
Join Rebecca Alexander for the release of her new book, A Kids Book About Body Image.
A Kids Book About Body Image takes the conversation around body image head-on, helping kids not only love their own bodies the way they are, but understand how corporations and capitalism profit from keeping us insecure. The book highlights common body image concerns experienced by kids of all races, genders, and sizes.
Special thanks to Be Nourished for their sponsorship of this event. Be Nourished offers workshops, retreats, and e-courses for individuals looking to reclaim body trust and be nourished in a culture filled with weight bias and body oppression.
Thanks also to our hosts, The Riveter. The Riveter offers inviting, professional, beautiful workspaces and flexible memberships to access what they need, how they need it.
